This week, Conway resident and aquatic exercise, therapy and rehabilitation consultant Mary Essert will be giving two presentations at the
Post-Polio International Conference in Roosevelt Warm Springs, Ga.
Essert, who will be demonstrating aquatic exercises for persons with post-polio syndrome at the conference, is a graduate of the ATRI Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute and has taught swimming, safety, water fitness and therapeutic intervention techniques internationally since 1949. In addition to being given the 2007 International Swimming Hall of Fame Paragon Award, Aquatic Exercise Association Lifetime Achievement Award and American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Aquatic Leadership Award, Essert has made a number of videos and written articles explaining and demonstrating her techniques.
